The National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) awarded BCOE Today with a Publications and Digital Media Excellence Award earlier this month.

The website, launched by the Butte County Office of Education in October 2024, earned an Honorable Mention for the Website category.

In honor of the achievement, BCOE and all other Publication and Digital Media Award program winners will be recognized during the Annual Meeting and Celebration of Achievement in July in Washington, D.C.

“I’m proud and grateful that BCOE Today got this recognition, especially for how fast the project came together,” said Travis Souders, BCOE Communications Officer. “The site has only been up a few months, and there are still so many stories to tell in our organization. It’s a validating feeling to know an organization as renowned as NSPRA sees the value in what we’re doing with BCOE Today.

About BCOE Today

BCOE Today has published dozens of stories from across the organization that highlight its programs and people.

Readers have found inspiration in stories of redemption encountered in BCOE’s Back 2 Work program, which provides education to California’s most underserved populations to reduce recidivism, rehabilitate those suffering homelessness and addiction, and break cycles of poverty and incarceration. They’ve gotten to know some of the brightest and fastest-rising stars in the organization, gaining pride and affirmation in BCOE. There is also a recurring area on the site for first-person perspectives, “BCOE Voices,” in which BCOE staff introduce themselves and tell their story of the organization through their eyes.

About NSPRA

NSPRA’s Publications and Digital Media Excellence Awards recognize outstanding education publications, e-newsletters, digital media programs, radio/TV/video programs, social media, infographics, blogs and websites.

Honors are awarded according to publication or digital media type, and organization type and size. Entries are judged on their overall excellence as well as quality as compared to other entries in the category. The top award in each category is the Award of Excellence. Awards of Merit and Honorable Mentions are also given in each category.

NSPRA uses experienced, award-winning professionals to evaluate entries. Judges have no pre-set limit on the number of awards that may be given in each category. They may also opt to issue no awards in a category if no entries are deemed worthy of recognition.
